Tangled Heart - I finally succeeded to save it and also make many babies of it
If you are a succulent lover, then definitely tangled heart would be very close to your heart!!! Like I said in my previous blog, I am a person who loves crazily to collect more and more and more plant for my tiny little balcony. So, my dear friends... welcome to my story or my success story of my tangled heart.
In my recent visit to my hometown, I saw this pretty plant for the first time hanging in a small terracotta pot and smiling at me.
It was my love at first sight๐๐!!! Its trailing twigs were inaudibly whispering me to carry it to my home. And yeah I am a very humble lady, ha. How could I say no to such a pretty thing๐๐!!! My mom brought this plant from someone.
I asked my mamma about its propagation and was so happy to learn that this plant could be propagated from its cutting. Yeah yeah, I know how you are feeling right now. For any plant lover, it could be the happiest news that the plant that he loves can be propagated from its cuttings.
So, I brought 2 cuttings from my mamma and planted it in my balcony. But sadly it died after 7 days๐ญ. I was shattered to see it dying. I searched everywhere on the internet and I had done everything (or maybe almost everything) to save it. I thought that I lost it.
One month passed. One day in my office, I had a presentation with my clients and it went very well. I was very happy๐. Oh, suddenly my heart told that "Jags it's time to celebrate".๐๐๐ And what would be better than buying my plant love for my balcony?๐ I quickly went to the nursery⚶⚶⚵ and brought this tangled heart and re-potted it carefully in a hanging planter.
But sadly after just 3 days, I felt like it was not doing well. It was losing a lot of leaves and its colour was fading. But this time I had made my mind of not letting it die.
I cut a lot of healthy stems and I planted the cuttings, took a lot of care and today I can say that I finally succeeded to save my darling.
Cuttings: The first important thing is to choose a healthy cutting. Like the one, I have shown below.
Soil: Prepared the soil with very well-drained soil. Many people use sand for their succulents. But since I didn't find garden sand, I prepared my soil as 50% garden soil and 50% coco-peat.
Pots: I chose pots with good drainage and I planted all the cuttings. It need not be any fancy pot. I used normal nursery bought plastic pots and also reused plastic bottles.
Sunlight: And like I said in my previous blog, I kept all the tiny planters in my recovery window. The tangled heart likes a lot of sunlight. But that doesn't mean that you would pot them directly under the sun. In the initial days, till new leaves appear, keep it in a place where it gets full day bright light but just 1-2 hours only of full sun.
Water: A very important thing is water. Don't water it every day like you do with your other regular plants. Before you water this plant, make sure that the soil is completely dried by touching the soil.
1. A very important thing here is that when you plant the cutting, don't let the cutting trail or hang down at that time, doing this you are making the plant stress for making a balance in the new soil and the trailing branch. Make the branch lie entirely in the soil. This would also help you in getting new plant shoots the nodes of the branch.
2. With the change of season, you may have to shift your sweet-heart plant. Just remember that it needs heat but not scorching noontime sun. It loves bright light but doesn't do well if it's kept directly in the afternoon sun. I have kept it like this where it gets full but indirect sunlight.
3. The third tip - aah not exactly tip but I am just saying that be gentle and have patience. Just care for them and don't expect them to grow just in 1 night. For me, it took 1 month to get some healthy leaves and almost 3 months to get a lot of new babies.
4. Bonus Point: The tangled heart also grows in a pot with no drainage hole :-) But it's just that its growth would be slow.
JUST KEEP CALM AND WATCH THEM GROWING...I AM SURE YOU WOULD ENJOY THE ENTIRE PROCESS.
Meet you in my next blog with another success story. Until then - HAPPY GARDENING

Can you see baby plants emerging out of the shoots that were lying on soil? |

I have recently shifted on this railing where it gets full but partial sunlight |
